I have always felt most at home amongst the plants and creatures of the wild. I grew up in Minnesota where the great outdoors was my playground. My parent’s passion for growing our own food in our backyard inspired me to also spend my days in the garden, cherishing the plants that would feed us. Memories of seed selecting with my dad, the welcome home of the sugar snap peas after a summer vacation, and helping my mother tend the peonies have always remained with me.
My love for nature led me to pursue a college education in Environmental Science. After five years of study, I yearned for a break from the classroom, so I ventured out to immerse myself in some of the most beautiful and wild places. I have traveled and lived in Oregon, Wyoming, Montana, Alaska, and Colorado and now Michigan. I spent time learning the local plants, and I adored animals in their wildest habitat. This path finally brought me to the Colorado School of Clinical Herbalism, and I feel so blessed to have been called there. At CSCH I gained a Certificate in Clinical Herbalism and Holistic Nutrition. Here Paul Bergner and many other teachers inspired me at a deep level within every moment of my education and my clinical experience. I was able to embrace what it feels like to be in my calling. Over the years I have experienced my own mysteries when it has come to my health. When I turned to a Western Herbalist and a Natropathic doctor for help, it felt like I was breathing new life. Chronic issues dropped away as I chose foods that were whole and nourishing. Strength in my body and clarity in my mind returned with the support of daily plant infusions. My spirit gleamed as I explored the magic of flower essences. This encouraged me further to pursue the education that I did, and feel so grateful for my teachers and mentors along the way. I truly have the power to nurture my own health and wellness on a daily basis by making choices with the foods I eat, the tea I drink and the lifestyle I lead. I look forward to guiding you on your journey of health and healing. I know how deeply I have been nourished on this path, and I would love to share that education with you. I would like to empower you to take charge of your well-being while supporting you with knowledge in nutrition, herbs, vital practices and lifestyle. I do not promise magic bullets or quick fixes, as I believe that when we nourish the root of our highest self, we bloom and grow to our fullest potential--to a life brimming with vitality. As with tending to a garden, this growth may take time and patience and comes with a bounty of reward. I am working toward growing my own food and herbs, while largely supporting those local food growers around me. I have been studying Permaculture in Colorado (and now Michigan) the last five years, and this only has emphasized how important it is to nurture the Earth, so we too can be nourished, and to learn from nature's teachings and embrace her methods to cultivate food systems and strong community. All of these roots have found each other and continue to grow up into this tree of my wonderful life, and I look forward to further growth and experiences! I hope to meet you and hear about your journey as well! |
